Northeast Campus promotes literacy with book fair, classroom activities

The Northeast Campus welcomed more than 100 families and community members to its Family Literacy and Family Expo Night on Wednesday, March 25th. The event was a huge success. Students from PK-5th grade participated in literacy activities in the classrooms. The activities included games, creating poetry and children reading aloud to their parents.

The spring book fair provided our students and parents with books to help increase literacy. Students shopped and had an opportunity to purchase books to add to their personal libraries.

Our community partners included YES Prep, the Lakewood Library, the YMCA, Texas Children's Health Plan and Jefferson Dental Center. YES Prep, a university preparatory program for grades 6-12, provided our 5th grade parents an opportunity to enroll their children for the upcoming school year. The other vendors provided information as well as gifts for our students and families.

A huge shout-out to Nurse Medina for coordinating this wonderful event and a huge thank you to our parents who participated.
