Basketball comes to Varnett (Video)

Northeast student-athlete talks about the first official basketball games at The Varnett Public School. Northeast lost to host Southwest last week 24-11 and 31-10, but the players all had fun!

Basketball rivalry

Students talk about their first official basketball experience at The Varnett Public School. Southwest players defeated the visiting Northeast team 24-11 and 31-10. The launch of basketball is the latest in Varnett's expansion of after-school enrichment programs that include soccer, cheerleading, dance, chess and more.

SW sweeps NE in first official basketball games (Video)

Mr. Lonnie Reynolds, athletic director of The Varnett Public School, talks about the first official basketball games in the district. Players from The Varnett School Northeast Thursday came to the Southwest campus to play their SW counterparts. Buoyed by their cheerleading team, the Southwest players won both games, 24-11 and 31-10, respectively. The teams were composed of third- through six-graders. Northeast players are wearing the blue.
