Meet the Director, Ms. Dimitrie Rainey

Hello Varnett Northeast School Family!

I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to become the new Principal of Varnett Northeast!

Over the past decade, I have served as a school administrator across grades K-8 and honed my instructional leadership skills in both rural and urban elementary/middle schools. I’ve held many roles over a span of 23 years. I’ve been a classroom teacher, math coach, team lead, Assistant Principal, Interim Principal, and Principal. I received my Bachelors in elementary education at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina and my Masters degree in Administration and Supervision from American College of Education, and I am currently pursuing my Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Abilene Christian College.

Last, and absolutely not least, I want to share about my educational philosophy that I look to bring to Northeast. As a school administrator and educator, I believe strongly that positive development and academic outcomes occur in strong, spirited, school-wide communities. This requires the enforcement of a bully-free environment, student-focused instruction, and effective communication with all stakeholders. Moreover, an overarching goal of all my work in education has been supporting both the academic and social- emotional development of my students, families, and staff.

I hope that my strong values around helping the “whole child” will shine through in all that I do as the Principal of Northeast.
