Campus honors grandparents with breakfast and earned respect

The Varnett School Northeast hosted a special breakfast for our students' grandparents and families on Friday, Sept. 6.

We held the event two days before National Grandparents Day, a designated time to honor grandparents, to give them an opportunity to show love for their children's children, and to help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer. National Grandparents Day falls each year on the first Sunday after Labor Day.

We had approximately 200 families that came and enjoyed quality time with their grandchildren. The families also were served a delicious breakfast.

Special thanks to our AMAZING community partners, Ms. Christina Alley and her team at The Houston Food Bank and Shipley's Donuts for their generous contribution. Their efforts and generosity helped make this event a GRAND success.  Happy Grandparents Day to all of our Varnett grandparents!

After the event, Dr. Toron Wooldridge, the campus director, and Mr. Lawrence Williams, the assistant campus director, even got the chance to serve the amazing staff with a healthy breakfast!
