Parents pick up tips on Literacy Night

Literacy Night came with a carnival theme Thursday in an event that attracted about 120 parents.

The Northeast campus designed the night to correspond with The Varnett Public School's Parent Engagement Program, with an emphasis on the "Power of Follow-Through" and the "Power of Respect."

Counseling services were also available for parents to better communicate with their children.

Parents were given tips for teaching their children respect, such as being a good role model, treating children with respect even if they are misbehaving, establishing rules early on, teaching their children to be open-minded and teaching about different cultures.

We want to thank those who attended and we hope you had an entertaining and educational evening!
