Second-graders brighten the day of nursing home residents

Twenty-four second-graders from the Northeast Campus today brightened the lives of residents at Legend Oaks nursing home, bearing Kleenex boxes and smiles.

Accompanied by two teachers, the students took time out of the classroom to carry out their Community Service Project that enables them to give something back to the community.

They went from hallway to hallway and room to room and delighted the residents with their presence. The facility, officially known as Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation, is located at 15880 Wallisville Road.

The cheerful group, which included teachers Ms. Spivey and Ms. Chaney, also spent some time talking to staff and volunteers. “I think it’s great to bring them here like that,” Legend Oaks volunteer Frank Parnelle said.
