COVID-19 Return to Class

Dear Parents,

I know we all have experienced a challenging year. We have had to deal with COVID-19, testing for COVID, severe weather in February, and getting accustomed to our kids learning remotely. Our teachers have done an excellent job teaching students in the classroom and students who are learning remotely at home. Our parents have been extraordinary as teachers at home as well. We appreciate you.

COVID is scary and it causes us all to be concerned. However,  I think we are in a better place right now. Approximately 60 percent of our staff members have been vaccinated or are in the process of being vaccinated. Our schools are disinfected frequently and all students and staff continue to wear masks.

As I visited classrooms across the district, I knew I had to ask for your help again. Some of our students are falling behind because they need to be face to face with the teacher. If students are struggling it is unfair to ask them to catch themselves up. We know we can help them but we ask you to agree to send them back. Please think about this during spring break, complete the latest survey on our website (www.varnett.org) and give our students a chance. Help us to fulfill our legacy of excellence and your child’s potential for excellence.

Please be safe and we will see you on Monday, March, 22.
