The Varnett Public School and Houston Food Bank combined to serve 150 families during a Thanksgiving community food drive at the Southwest Campus on November 12, 2021.
Varnett volunteers, including District Superintendent Margaret Stroud and even some students, helped package food and place them in a line of vehicles.
"We were open to the community and no one was turned away," said Ms. Pamella Thomas, the campus parent liaison.
Varnett's participation extended a long tradition of partnering with the food bank to serve families for the holidays.
Founded in 1982, the Houston Food Bank is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation's food bank network, with a four-star rating from Charity Navigator.
The Varnett Family wishes everybody a Happy Thanksgiving!
