HPD visits campus to build relationships and spread its anti-bullying message

Four Houston Police Department officers accepted an invitation from The Varnett Public School  to spread the word about their anti-bullying campaign at the Northeast campus.

The officers talked to all grade levels about the consequences of bullying and discussed the department's Police Activities League. PAL'S mission is to reduce juvenile crime and violence by building trusting relationships between youth, law enforcement and the community.

PAL's members between the ages of 8-18, are part of a program that includes mentorships, civic service projects, athletics and recreational and educational opportunities throughout the city of Houston.

If you are between the ages of 8-18 and want to become a member of this exciting new program, ask your parents to contact Ms. Janis White, the district social worker at [email protected] or HPD at HPD.CommunityAffairs@houstonpolice.org. You can also pick up an application at your home campus.

The HPD personnel who visited the campus on September 30, 2022, were officers Aureliua Aguilar, Anthony Triplet, Terrance Burrell and Natasha Myers. They also took the time to pose for pictures with students and staff.

Thanks to Ms. White who invited HPD to talk to our Northeast students for the second time in two years.
