The Varnett Northeast cheerleaders proudly displayed their first-place trophy after competing in a drill teams competition.
They were awarded for their performance at the Texas Southern University Homecoming Grand Tiger Parade on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
The trophy recently was delivered to the campus.
In a letter shortly after the cheer team's performance, parade chair Birtenna Bennett wrote: "I am happy to announce that you are the first-place winner in the drill teams category in TSU's 2022 Homecoming Grand Parade."
The winning team is coached by Ms. Amber Green, Ms. LaJunna Short and Ms. Latunya Chaney.
"They worked really hard," said Dr. Toron Wooldridge, the campus director.
