More than 1,700 students, parents and staff took part in Varnett's annual Field Day event, a week before classes are out for the summer,
The threat of rain never materialized as students unleashed Field Day-sized energy on the grounds of the Southwest Campus.
It was a district-wide exercise session, of sorts, as students engaged in activities such as an obstacle course, tug-of-war, soccer. horseshoes, moonwalk and more.
Field Day is the last major event of the school year as graduation ceremonies start next week for PreK-4 and 5th grade students.
