More than 100 students marched during separate graduation ceremonies under a tent filled with happy parents at the Northeast Campus Monday.
The PreK4 graduates totaled 76 and the 5th grade graduates totaled 29.
Dr. M. Annette Cluff, Varnett's superintendent, extended her congratulations to the students before handing out the diplomas. The successful 5th graders will leave Varnett for junior high school and the PreK students will take the next step to kindergarten.
Ms. Brown, one of two 5th grade teachers at Northeast, called the day bittersweet for herself and her students.
"We had tears because we are happy that they are graduating and sad because they are leaving Varnett and their peers," she said.
