The Varnett Northeast Campus held its 2017 Science Fair during the week of May 15-18, 2017.
The students were able to show off their talents and display knowledge about science by creating a project. Some of the projects included recipes for slime, a model electric helicopter, magic eggs and an electric circuit. A variety of creativeness definitely was on display, which showed the students’ understanding of exactly what was expected of them.
The projects were judged in the areas of creativity, neatness, visual display, content, how well the instructions were displayed and organization. The students presented with awards are as follows for each grade level:
1st Place, $20
Lauren Roberson, 3rd
Julian Guitierrez, 4th
Kimberly Herra, 5th
2nd Place, $10
Aiden Henderson, 3rd
Erik Cerda, 4th
Melody Riosa, 5th
3rd Place, $5
Adrianna Titus, 3rd
Angel Moran, 4th
The overall best exhibit went to fourth-grader Julian Guitierrez for his ‘Electric Helicopter." The awards included first-, second- and third-place ribbons as well as a certificate and a pencil bag filled with goodies.

The overall best exhibit was presented a trophy. Third grade was recognized for having the most participants. Overall, I was proud of the students for showing much initiative and responsibility to create such wonderful exhibits and I greatly appreciated their participation. I really look forward to Science Fair 2018.
