Games, entertainment and info highlight Family Literacy Night

We at The Varnett School Northeast held our annual Family Literacy Night in conjunction with our Parent Empowerment Program Tuesday, February 6, 2018.

The event was successful and we were super excited to have more than 60 parents attend.  The event included a performance from our Northeast dance and cheer team.  The girls in celebration of our recent school choice activities performed a school choice dance.

The night was filled with literacy games and information for parents and students. Light refreshments were on hand as parents and students enjoyed popcorn.

This year’s Family Literacy Night was organized by Mrs. Karen Wells, our Scholastic Guided Reading lead teacher, along with Ms. Anna Medina, the parent liaison.

A big shout out to Ms.  Scarlette Swanson, our media resource coordinator, for ensuring that our Scholastic Book Fair was open and available for parents to purchase books.

Thank you, parents, for attending and remember our next event is March 20, 2018, for our parent data talk meeting.  Please plan to attend.  We will discuss upcoming assessments and review your children's data from district assessments as well as standardized assessments.
