Parent empowerment sessions focus on student academic data

We at The Varnett School Northeast hosted two Parent Empowerment Program sessions Tuesday, one in the morning and another in the evening.

Parents learned about the power of praise and received valuable information regarding their children's academic data. Mrs. Illesia Wyatt, an instructional coach, led the data talks.

I was so impressed with our parents who showed up. They were totally engaged.

The Parental Empowerment Program is a culturally responsive approach to increasing parents’ advocacy and expectation for the success of children. The program's slogan is "I Got the Power," meaning parents have the power to shape the early development of their children's lives.

More than 120 parents attended the two meetings.

Hats off to Mrs. Wyatt, Ms. Anna Medina, the campus parent liaison and Ms. Shanti Bhatt, an instructional coach.
