The Varnett School Northeast teachers and staff led by Campus Director Toni Fisher hosted their annual Literacy Night on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. The exciting night of literacy events engaged students and their families while drawing in the importance of reading.
Parents received sight words to practice with their students. Literacy night activities included literacy games per grade level, including a Reading's Theatre with parents as well as students getting in on the action.
Hats off to Ms. Scarlette Swanson for allowing students and parents one more opportunity to purchase books from our Scholastic Book Fair. Without a doubt, sight words were the buzz words for the evening. Parents learned the importance of sight words and participated in Sight Word Bingo with our awesome third-grade team. Our local storyteller, Baba Ifalade Giadi, provided non-stop entertainment with storytelling and drumming (See video)
