Dear Varnett Public School Families:
The holiday season is upon us and we are at the beginning of winter with many more months of possible cold days ahead of us. With that to look forward to, it is especially important that we take a breather during this winter break and enjoy all that is important and precious: our families, friends and the opportunities we have to spend quality time with those whom we cherish.
Once we return from the winter recess, it will be 2015 and a great time for all of our students and families to renew their commitment to learning, exploring and discovering. One important element of the learning process that you will see in every classroom is student collaboration. This means effective and purposeful collaboration combined with students demonstrating initiative and insight and having a propensity to adapt to challenging and dynamic situations. These are essential components of a student’s learning experience in all of their classrooms. Teachers continue to be highly engaged in our weekly professional development series that is supporting their effort to provide all students with learning opportunities that align with the TEKS and the STAAR assessment. These efforts are continuous and embedded in our daily work as teachers work collaboratively with their peers to design challenging learning opportunities for every student.
I am certain that everyone will feel refreshed after the winter break as we look forward to welcoming our students and parent community back to school on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Enjoy your winter break.
