Northeast dancers (right) and cheerleaders (left) practice before performing at halftime at the first-ever soccer game at the campus. Soccer, cheerleading and dance are among several activities being added at each of Varnett's four campuses as part of the district's new enrichment program.

You Got the Power! (Video)

Dr. Margaret Stroud, Varnett's superintendent, addresses parents at "The Power of Powerful Parenting (PPP)" kick-off dinner Thursday night. She was introduced by Ms. Pamella Thomas, parent liaison for the Early Childhood campus. PPP is a culturally responsive parent-centered approach to increasing Black and Hispanic parents' advocacy and expectations for the academic success of their children.
