Students view play about first black combat pilot

Today our middle school scholars attended a play at the Miller Outdoor Theatre.

Students enjoyed the Wings of Courage, an original play with music by the Mad River Theatre Works. The play celebrates the life of the first African American combat pilot, Eugene Bullard.  Using storytelling, music and drama, the production shows how Bullard's determination and perseverance helped him to overcome discrimination throughout his remarkable life.

This was a perfect trip as our middle school students are finishing up a unit on discrimination. More than 60 middle school students traveled to Hermann Park to view the play.

It was a much-needed break as we prepare for the upcoming STAAR blitz.
