Northeast celebrates Go Texan Day

To celebrate Go Texan Day, Varnett's Northeast students dressed up in their favorite cowboy and cowgirl attire on Friday, February 24, 2023.

Go Texan Day is the unofficial kickoff of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. It all started in 1954 as the brainchild of Archer Romero, who encouraged everyone in the city to wear Western clothes as a way to promote the upcoming livestock show and rodeo, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Everybody had a good time at Northeast showing their Western pride.
