Dance, cheerleading teams debut at Northeast (Video)

You Got the Power! (Video)

Dr. Margaret Stroud, Varnett's superintendent, addresses parents at "The Power of Powerful Parenting (PPP)" kick-off dinner Thursday night. She was introduced by Ms. Pamella Thomas, parent liaison for the Early Childhood campus. PPP is a culturally responsive parent-centered approach to increasing Black and Hispanic parents' advocacy and expectations for the academic success of their children.

Students in soccer scrimmage (Video)

Soccer and cheerleading are among several activities being added at each of Varnett's four campuses as part of the district's enrichment program. Other enrichment programs will include basketball, chess, dance, flag football, softball, track and field and homework assistance. Call your child's campus for details. The enrichment program before and/or after school provides a warm, caring environment beyond school hours when children will have an opportunity to play with school friends and get homework assistance.

Students receive backpacks donated by Good Samaritan (Video)

Watch as students receive backpacks, thanks to the generosity of Mr. Andy Solomon. Mr. Solomon donated 340 backpacks to students affected by Hurricane Harvey. "Thank you for caring about the needs of others," Dr. Margaret Stroud, Varnett's superintendent, said in a letter to Mr. Solomon. "Caring educators and those who care about education know no boundaries when it comes to meeting the needs of students to ensure their success."
